Non-oil exports to 5 northern countries stands at $2b

TEHRAN – Iran exported $2 billion of non-oil goods to Russia, Turkey, Armenia, Georgia, and Azerbaijan in the past Iranian calendar year (ended on March 19, 2016), Trade Promotion Organization Director Mojtaba Khosrotaj said on Saturday.

“In the first four months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20-July 21), Iran’s exports to the named countries reached $900 million and the figure can possibly hit $3 billion by the yearend,” ISNA quoted Khosrotaj as saying.  

According to Iran’s Customs Administration, the country exported $42.415 billion of non-oil goods in the past Iranian calendar year, showing a 16.11 percent decrease from its preceding year.

Iran had set a target of $77.5 billion in non-oil exports for the past year, according to Khosrotaj.      

The country is expected to reach $50 billion worth of non-oil exports by the end of this calendar year, IRNA quoted Valiollah Afkhamirad, the previous head of TPO as saying on August 9.
